Paul K. Mandal is the Founder and CEO of Neurint, where he leads the development of secure, applied AI systems for healthcare and defense that are designed to work under real operational constraints, not idealized research settings. With over a decade of experience spanning software engineering, AI research, and military operations, Mr. Mandal focuses on building systems that deliver measurable impact on schedule and within budget.
Mr. Mandal’s path into AI began as a systems-focused engineer with an early passion for writing code to solve practical problems, a mindset that has shaped his career ever since. He first worked at Northrop Grumman in 2012, where he developed software to automatically export data from systems engineering models and perform reliability, maintainability, and availability analyses, saving skilled engineers hours of manual effort each time it was used and enabling them to focus on higher-priority design, integration, and mission-impacting work. That automation accelerated trade studies, reduced review-cycle friction, and helped teams make faster engineering decisions under real schedule pressure. Across both government and industry roles, he has repeatedly been brought in to address complex, high-risk technical challenges where timelines, resources, and operational realities mattered. His work has resulted in deployable federated learning platforms, mission-critical computer vision pipelines, and security-aware ML systems used in defense and clinical research environments.
At Neurint, Mr. Mandal combines hands-on technical leadership with executive oversight, serving both as a principal individual contributor and as the lead responsible for architecture, delivery, and outcomes. His background allows him to identify and avoid common failure modes in AI programs, including over-engineered solutions, misaligned research objectives, and wasted effort on benchmarks that do not translate to real-world performance. Clients engage Neurint to reduce uncertainty, accelerate delivery, and ensure that research transitions into usable systems.
Mr. Mandal previously served as an Army officer in Infantry, Signal, and Cyber roles, where he led teams responsible for mission execution under time pressure and resource constraints. He currently serves as a Cyber Warfare Officer in the U.S. Army Reserve. That experience continues to shape his leadership philosophy: prioritize clarity, efficiency, and results, and build systems that people can actually rely on. He brings those principles directly into Neurint’s work, translating military operational discipline into effective industry execution.
Mr. Mandal holds an M.S. in Computer Science, an M.S. in Cybersecurity & Information assurance, a B.S. in Computer Engineering, a B.A. in Applied Mathematics, and a minor in Physics in addition to multiple cybersecurity certifications including the (ISC)² CISSP. He is known for combining technical research rigor with practical judgment, continuously drawing from multiple fields to adapt proven ideas and deliver meaningful breakthroughs where they matter most. His work in healthcare grew from researching AI/ML beyond “detection” and toward end-to-end systems that improve patient care, treatment, and prevention—an interest reinforced by a long-standing focus on neuroscience and dementias, and a desire to build tools that meaningfully reduce suffering.
